These paintings explore acrylic wash in atmospheric, otherworldly landscapes. I played with blending methods for blurring and a soft lighting effect in some of them.

The Trees
Acrylic Wash Paintings
The trees are made with acrylic, acrylic wash, and occasional spray paint. They are abstract expressions of trees but really the trees are the least significant element of this group. I feel I perfected my use of acrylic wash with these trees. During this time, I took walks and thought about the weirdness of nature and color (natural and chemical) and paint. The trees are my experiments at bringing the phenomena and sciences of nature and color. Trees are so still to us but are dynamic and vivaciously alive. As a response to complexity, I painted it.

5’x5’ Circle Studies, 2024
Getting back into fully immersive experiences with painting, I used larger cotton canvases nailed to a palette board. Acrylic washes and layers really imbedded itself into the frame of all of the works. It was it’s own kind of art piece being made with the paintings in the process.
