vibez — a poem, 2021

and the vibe is dark nights

brightly colored lights

a glass window full of neon signs

sometimes i wish i could rhyme a whole sentence like Eminem

words and flow go to and fro with balance and symmetry

read a dictionary to learn more words

he rhymed orange with porridge and cussed us out for saying you couldn't rhyme orange with anything but orange and i felt flustered

never been good at rhyming but the rhythm and flow, the to and fro come easy in the zone

i haven't found the line between

fuck english, i don't respect it

and

read the dictionary to know more words

so the flow can grow to a watery

here and there and yet

that line is somewhere near

where i speak

and my vibe is dark nights

red lights and darker days

i go for a walk and see a TV

stranded on the street

broken screen waiting to be seen

to be written about in secrecy then

exposed for no one in particular

to deem the scene as seen

and my vibe can be dark nights

lit up bonfires with

mosquitos biting up my skin

every day is a celebration

with you and you take all the chocolate

but i like the marshmallows anyway

my vibe can be seeing

dark nights and twinkling lights

with a TV sitting by the wayside

makes me wanna write about it

so i do

still wishing i could rhyme a whole sentence like Eminem
